I've periodically had problems with my printer connecting to Windows 10 just because it's old. There's nothing wrong with the device, it's just unsupported for the OS. In the past reinstalling the driver got it working again but the last few months it doesn't even seem to be communicating,

I've tried the usual reboot, disconnect the cable etc etc. nothing working. @RockSt☆r Rick K any ideas? Previous solutions were from you so I'm hoping you might be able to shed some light!

    Thanks so much

    :)

    Hello Dancingninjacat,

This issue may occur due to corrupted, missing, outdated printer driver or due to incorrect printer settings. Since you've mentioned that this printer may not be supported in Windows 10, that could be another factor
as the manufacturer will no longer provide drivers or firmware updates for the said printer.

You may still perform some of the steps below to troubleshoot your printer connection:

Method 1: Run the Windows built-in troubleshooter

This troubleshooter automatically diagnose and repair common problems with devices and hardware.

    1. Click on Start, search for
Control Panel and click on it.

    2. On the Control Panel window, search for Troubleshooting and click on
    Troubleshooting.

    3. On the left pane, click View all.

    4. In the list of options, click on Hardware and devices.

    5. Click on Next and follow the on-screen instructions.

Method 2: Clear the Spooler files and restart the spooler service

    1. Press Windows key + R, then type in services.msc and press
    Enter.

    2. In the Services list, double-tap (or double-click) Print
    Spooler
    . Select Stop > OK.

    3. In the search box on the taskbar, type %WINDIR%\system32\spool\printers, select the file folder in the search results, and then delete all files in the folder.

    4. Search for and open Services again

    5. In the Services list, double-tab (or double-click) Print
    Spooler
    .

    6. Select Start, and in the Startup Type list, make sure that Automatic is selected, and then select OK.

Also, I'd recommend checking this article
to further troubleshoot connection issues for your printer.

    Looking forward to your response.

    Regards.

    How to Dump Networking Parameters?

Had a customer with this problem, they had a brand new Dell Optiplex 3050, with Windows 10 1709, and Realtek Gbit Family of lan adapters (wired connection). After much troubleshooting (many suggestions listed in the course of this thread), it turned out the PC needed a bios update. Among the updates listed on the dell website for bios version 1.52 (I flashed it with the latest 1.92) was "Update RealtekLOM".

LOM is "lan on motherboard" and the Realtek has flashable firmware.

One step for others having this issue is to check their computer manufacturer's website for "Lom" firmware updates for the particular network adapter - whether integrated or an add-in.
