Windows 10: Dell boots to recovery randomly when started but wife hits reset and somehow is able to sign in

Sorry to start because this is a situation I have been just informed of so I haven’t done much yet. The system is my wife’s Dell work computer. Maybe a year ago we upgraded it after a windows 11 issue with it conflicting with her work software. When going back to Windows 10 it corrupted and we just upgraded and fresh installed.Today she told me that when signing in after having the pc shutdown fully, the computer loads into the windows recovery screen with the windows ran into an issue prompt. She isn’t very good with windows and how to handle issues like this so in a panic I believe she just

Thank you for that suggestion, I have attempted the steps on that article as well and have been unsuccessful with getting the computer to go into recovery mode. The only menus I am able to access are F2 for Set Up and F12 for boot options. Outside of that I am only shown the Dell logo, looping.

 

How to factory reset Cisco 1700 Router

Hopefully I can help you here....its a very common thing to happen.


First, I take it you dont know the passwords for console access or telnet/ssh?

I will assume that these devices belong to you.

step 1. Plug a cisco console cable into a serial port on your pc
step 2. Plug other end into Cisco console port
step 3. Using hyperterm or putty or similar connect to the serial port
step 4. boot router, and make sure you clearly can see the output (this confirms you have good serial comms)
step 5. if this fails, adjust the comm port settings (9600, 8,1,n are the default)
step 6. now you have to do the only hard part...send the break command:

Go down the list and match your OS and SW and try the sequence suggested.

If this fails several times do what I do: Install putty (free) and then to send a break so you can get into rommom just hit "ctrl-a b".

 

Installing Windows 11 from a recovery USB on Dell Inspiron 3580

Hi,

Background:

Drive was showing signs of death. Machine had Win 11 installed and updated.

• I created a USB recovery drive as per MS instructions.
  
• I removed the old drive, and added a new SSD drive.
  
• Upon boot Windows Setup launches. I select language, time and currency, and keyboard (all defaults) and click Next.
  
• I click Install Now.
  
• Setup starts.
  
• I respond to the applicable notices and license terms affirmatively and click Next.
  
• I am seeing 2 options: Upgrade which is not available because I am booting with a USB drive. I choose Custome, Install Windows Only. Which is fine by me.
  
• I choose the new drive from the list.
  
• The installation runs from Copying Windows files to Finishing up. All steps are marked complete.
  
• Then the Windows Setup launches again.
  

Dell diagnostics show the new drive is functional, and no other problems were found.

Can anyone please suggest what I might try next/differently, etc.?
