Dell G5 5578 runs slower and laggier after applying new thermal paste and running it.

I've had this laptop for a couple years and the temps were getting very high so i decided to re-paste my GPU and CPU, i disassembled everything Because that's what it takes to reach the cooling system and reassembled it all again, i didn't do any mistakes as i followed a guide step by step, screw by screw, i turned on the laptop and at first it kept giving out this pattern of light through the power on light 1 Orange, 3 White. i turned it off and looked it up and it turned out to be a CMOS failure. i reopened it. made sure the CMOS is connected correctly and it was. tried running it again

  2. Game run slower on win10 1803 build.

    Hi.

    I own dell Vostro 5568 Intel(R) Core(TM) I5-7200U CPU 2.5 GHz 2.7GHz

    SSD 255GB and Intel HD 520 - NVIDIA 940MX.

since the last windows update a game I play started to run slower and when I say slower I mean like the character movements are slower like an fps drop.

I got all the updates from dell site also for my graphic card.

I optimized my win10 to max performance.

i added the game to the list in Nvidia control panel and made it to run for performance only.

Power Settings are on Performance as well but game still run slower. it did run better on the 1709 build but I can't go back since I made fresh install of the 1803 build.

    any suggestions?

    game called mu online.

  3. Issue with Laptop turning off after applying new thermal paste

    Good Afternoon,

I decided to clean out my laptop of dust and install new thermal paste after several years of use. I've done this before with other PCs and laptops with no issue. I was able to reboot fine, then after about 10 minutes the laptop just turned off randomly.
I was concerned, but upon turning the device back on I've run into my issues.

    • The laptop will go to the Windows login screen and stay there with the custom background I picked. If I hit 'ctrl alt del' to get to where I enter the password, the password begins typing itself slowly one character at a time. My keyboard doesn't work at
this point, I can't click backspace or if I hit a key nothing registers. After it types 4-5 characters the device shuts off
    • I can't get into BIOS for the machine, as it will turn off either before BIOS loads or right as the BIOS comes up
    • I get to the startup repair, however the device powers off when I go to start it where it asks for the account's password

I thought I may have mis-installed the cooler/fan and the thermal paste, however I've cleaned it now 3 different times and even bought new thermal paste (in case the prior tube was old/expired), but still no luck. Is this a software issue? I am not sure
if the device is broken or if it's a software issue. My thought is something is affecting the fan/heat sensor forcing the device to shut down, but I am not seeing anything on the board which looks fried/broken.

Also, the fan does spin up when it turns on.

    Best thermal paste

Most decent thermal paste is about all the same (1-2 degree difference). Without knowing the two listed, (I use MX-2), I would suggest going with the one that is non-conductive.
