Windows 10: Dell G5 5590 - One of three USB ports does not recognize any USB 2.0 devices as a mass storage

Hello,I have a strange problem that I tried all solutions available on internet before posting this. I have Dell G5 5590 bought in May 2020. Everything was working fine until week of 12the April, 2021 - where a windows update might have messed one of my USB 3.0 port up.Problem:My laptop has three USB 3.1 Gen ports. After the recent windows update - only one of these three USB ports started having a strange problem.This one port on right side of the laptop can detect all USB 3.0 devices without any problem. However this specific port does not detect any of my USB 2.0 devices - like my old flash

USB Device Not Recognized (Malfunctioned)

Just had this problem recently, a cmos clear corrected it. One item you can check to see is if the bios recognizes anything by loading its "boot from" menu and checking for any USB mass storage listed.

 

USB 2 port not working

Using the advice from the cite you provided, there is a difference in the USB listing of Device Manager when "Show Hidden Devices" is selected. Under Hidden Devices, I'm seeing a "USB Composite Device," and "USB Mass Storage Device" listed but the icon
to the left of these items is shaded, unlike the rest. I have a flash drive plugged into the port so I assume this is the Mass Storage Device, since when I remove it only the USB Composite Device remains from the two shaded icons. This tells me that the
hardware is working since it recognizes the existence of the flash drive. So that's $8 I didn't need to spend.

Hello Giraffy,

First I would try to reinstall the Zune Software on your PC - if this does not help I am afraid that I have to suggest removing the SD card and reset the device to factory defaults and check if the device would be recognized properly. Using non–Windows
Phone 7 Compliant SD Card in your device is not supported scenario and it might be the cause of your issue.

When you connect Windows Phone 7 to your computer it should be listed as a Windows Phone USB Device in Device Manager. USB mass storage is not supported scenario on WP7 and the phone cannot be accessed through Windows Explorer. I know that there are
registry hack to enable the USB mass storage, but again you will get into the unsupported scenario again.
