Windows 10: Dell G5 Windows 10 - All usb ports stopped working

I have a Dell G5 gaming laptop that started having issues out of no-where. First, the wireless adapter completely stopped working. I had to go into device manager and uninstall the adapter and then scan for hardware changes to get it working again. I have had to do it one more time when it stopped working again so far. In parallel with this issue (although I cannot prove this since I didn't try using any USB device till later that evening), all of my USB ports stopped working. I have tried doing the same fix for these in the device manager, but that did not work. I have tried updating all the USB port drivers with 3rd party software (Driver Booster 8), but that did not fix the issue either. All My USB ports have been tested with multiple devices (confirmed working device on other machine) in all 3 ports. Anyone have any clue what could be going on? This happened while I was away from my computer, no new .exe file ran at the time or anything like that. Side notes: -The device I was trying to plug in when I discovered this usb was a USB xbox controller that has always worked fine with this machine. The controller vibrates briefly like normal (so something is detected), but does not turn on or pair with the machine. Same issue with other controllers. They CAN connect via bluetooth. Any help is MUCH APPRECIATED!!! -No updates system updates have been performed on this machine recently. The usb drivers property info says they were downloaded april 21. This was completely random when it happened.

USB 2.0 Ports Stopped working

Hello,

I recently noticed my USB 2.0 ports have stopped working, but my USB 3.0 port is functioning perfectly.

Steps i have tried:

- Restarting

- Searching for device changes in Device manager

- running troubleshooter

all these suggested fixes didn't remedy the issue, its a bit of an inconvenience that i only have one functioning USB port

USB ports stopped working on Windows 7

Check the N97's USB cable for signs of damage at the USB end, and inspect USB ports on your mobo/case for signs of damage. Could be a short caused by damaged USB port. Gotta have good eyes when checking USB ports...

If you only installed the drivers for your N97 yesterday, there may be a conflict where the N97 driver installation came with some drivers that are conflicting with your USB drivers. Can you get a PS/2 keyboard? If there's no signs of damage to your cables/USB ports then the next step would be Device Manager.
