DELL I5 Inspirion 3000 8th Gen Intel I7 with built in DVD drive. I used my old Office 2003 Prof. ±2021 MS inst free W10. It is a stand alone home unit. I retired in 1995 due to health problems after a serious car accident. No family or other connections. I need a free driver for the onboard cd drive. I downloaded "WPS" to be able to read some of my old .DOC files. My HP1510/1515 Inkjet printer is also not working smoothly. A few glitches now and then. Please help!!! I will have to get a screen print to be able to tell you the error messages I receive.Any suggestion for drivers down loadable

The Dell Inspirion 15 3000 sometimes just comes with a blank DVD cover, the model with that cover does not actually have a DVD drive in the specification . . .

I have Dell Inspirion 3542. My laptop have HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GU90N (DVD writer part number 9M9FK) and Camera (part number VFVY9) is not working. Several time I Uninstall/ delete and install it but its not working. In My computer DVD writer is showing the
icon, if i double click on the icon, its ejects the tray and if I insert a DVD/CD, it will not read or any reaction.

In device manager its is not showing IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, only showing chipset family SATA ACHI controllers.

Genuine Windows 10 (Pro) 64 bit is installed and I two times format the system but result is same.

Can anybody suggest / guide me proper solution for this Or provide me the drivers link?

What problem does your Device manager indicate for this drive? Hover your cursor over it to see any messages and double-click on it to look through its properties.

If there is a driver problem indicated then try these steps to find a driver
- Right-click on the Device manager entry and select Update driver. Windows might find a suitable driver itself this way. If there is no change but you then find a driver in the steps I have listed below, you could repeat this Update driver check to see if Windows can improve from that new baseline.
- Go to your Dell drivers & downloads section using your Dell service tag. See if a driver is provided in their list. If so, change the OS entry at the top of the list to get the newest possible one [even a Vista one might do and a Windows 7 one almost certainly would].
- Search the MS update catalog for Philips DVD ROM 6316 / Philips 6316 to see if it can provide a driver. I just checked for you and there is nothing there.
- Go back to the Dell support site but don't dive down to your model or enter your Service tag. Search for Philips DVD ROM 6316 / Philips 6316 to see if they re-used that drive in a later model for which they do provide a Vista / Win7 / Win8 / Win10 driver.
- Reinstall whatever driver Dell originally gave you even if it is a WinXP driver. It might work [one of my upgraded computers still uses a WinXP driver for one item].

If none of this works then the cheapest solution would be to buy an external DVD drive [they are connected by USB].
- You could then physically remove the current one [or disable it in Bios] and the external one would then also be able to boot the computer [I did this for two Dells and it worked in both cases].
- I replaced my internal DVD drives with caddies containing large HDDs.
- My external DVD drive spends most of its life in the cupboard [as yours will] but I can use it with any of my computers if the need arises. It definitely just uses a driver Windows allocates without any action being needed on my part.
