Windows 10: Dell Inspiron 1440 Operating System-Windows Vista & Upgrading

Hello,I have a dell inspiron 1440 that I’ve had for over 13 years. I can still use the internet but chrome needs to be updated as the page doesn’t work as intended. I think it has something to do with the operating system. I have windows vista and was wondering if I were to just purchase a product key for windows 10 and enter it under windows activation>change product key would this work? I’m not the most tech savvy so I appreciate any help. Thank you!

Dell only supports and supplies drivers on that model number for XP and Vista.

This is how you would check if 10 compatible:

First thing to do is to make sure that you have the correct system requirements and that your Computer Manufacturer supplies the correct Drivers for 10 for your Model Number.

If you read those Microsoft's system requirements for 10, you will find that if you only go on them you will be sadly disappointed in performance.

You should at least double what they say.

If you still want to try, you could consider backing up your current installation, then perform a clean install.
