Windows 10: Dell Inspiron 24 5459 AIO making humming noise

For the past few days, my Dell Inspiron 24 5459 AIO has been making this loud humming noise and I'm not sure why. What can I do to diagnose this problem and hopefully correct it?

Windows 10 crashes with no warning

System details, as noted in my posting:

Dell Inspiron 24-5459

BIOS: 2.4.0

UEFI ROM: Build 4302.10

For drivers, see the text file called System Information on OneDrive, and scroll down to the Drivers section

 

Hard to tell or diagnose without being able to hear it.

Have you checked the external power supply?

You can also just restart the computer and press F12 and choose Diagnostics. then for more detailed troubleshooting, try the link in post#2

 

Upon running Diagnostics (F12), it appears the CPU fan isn’t responding correctly.

It might be only a small accumulation of dust on the fan blades, causing it to be out of balance. If you have the knowledge, open it up and brush each blade carefully with a small art brush

When mine started making these type of noises I opened the case and a rug fell out lol.

Cleared the rug, cleaned the fan blades and was silent again.

Always best to renew the thermal paste also while ya there *Smile

Does not look too difficult to do the job yourself, clean the fan or replace it.
It looks to be a Laptop board in a monitor type of thing.
YouTube is a good source of disassembly guides to similar models.

Whilst you are cleaning the fan note the model numbers on it so you can find a replacement fan, if required.
