Windows 10: Dell Inspiron 5565 with AMD A9 will not update to any version of Windows 10.

I was running Fast Ring Insider versions and beginning in January or so, all the OS upgrade have failed to update after the system is rebooted and it rolls back to version 18363.


I have tried many, many clean installs and in-place upgrades with no change.


I tried to get the latest version of the public released 2004, but they all fail after the screen fills up with colored pixels and freezes.


The forums on the Dell and 10Forums sites have offered not useful help.


I guess this machine will be stuck on version 18363.1016 forever...

suggestions for updating Dell Inspiron 580S from Windows 7 to Windows 10?

I'm trying to update a Dell Inspiron 580S desktop computer from Windows 7 (SP1 with latest updates) to Windows 10. I downloaded the Media Creation Tool; it ran ok until partway through installing Windows 10 when it stopped with the message "This PC can't
be upgraded to Windows 10... No action is needed." Following the suggestions in a July 9 2019 post to this forum (this PC can't be upgraded to windows 10) I tracked down
Dell's list of computers compatible with current versions of Win10. The Inspiron 580S isn't on the list.

Any suggestions of how I might proceed from here (other than "buy a new computer")?

Windows 10 Home on Dell Inspiron 3847 will not update to 1709

I have two identical boxes with same issue- Windows 10 Home will not update to 1709. Here are the hardware specs & steps taken to fix the problem:

Dell Inspiron 3847
Windows 10 Home ver 1607 OS Build 14393.1944
Intel Core i5-4460 3.2G
12GB RAM
Integrated Intel HD Graphics 4600
1TB SATA HDD

It downloads and attempts to install the latest updates then several hours later reverts back to where it was.
So far:
- installed & ran Windows Update Troubleshooter & taken the steps that it suggests
- renamed Windows 10 upgrade folder and downloaded the latest updates
- deleted the software distribution folder & downloaded/installed again
- ran windows cleanup and deleted all those files
- tried stopping & disabling the windows update service to prevent it from continuing
There is licensed software so a clean install is out of the question.

These PC's are installed in a restaurant and when this happens the whole place shuts down during lunch & dinner. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

The best driver for your system will be sourced from the Dell website, the newer version of the AMD and Nvidia drivers do cause problems

However, Dell do not provide Windows 10 drivers for your system, they only support that up to Windows 8.1

Try to source a Windows 10 AMD driver that is more than 6 months old, those do tend to be more compatible and reliable compared to the new drivers . . . the AMD website does provide a list of previous drivers for the AMD Radeon HD 7670M
