Windows 10: Dell Keyboard Issue and Windows 10 activation

Hi,

I have a Windows 10 laptop (Dell Inspiron) which for some reason got it's keyboard mappings wrong and misbehaves. I tried resetting the driver but it's of no use. I took it to the store and they are asking me to replace the keyboard but I can confirm there is nothing wrong with the physical keyboard because all the clicks are registered.


I'm thinking that factory resetting the PC would solve this issue but factory resetting would take me back to Windows 8.1. Since the Windows 10 free upgrade period is over, can I get back to Windows 10 or am I going to be stuck in Windows 8.1?


Any other suggestions to rectify the keyboard issue will also be helpful.

Dell 2520 keyboard issue on Windows 10

I have no issues opening the laptop by myself. Have done it a number of times. Suggestions on how to fix it will be welcome. As for the Dell Service center, unfortunately, the laptop is 5 years old and there aren't any reasonable Dell service centers in Pakistan *Think

 

Keyboard issues in WIndows 10

I have a Dell Inspiron 15 5000 series which is a loaner machine while my Inspiron 17" is being repaired. I have serious issues with Dell about the turnaround time frame. The issue with my computer as well as this loaner is a hardware based keyboard problem.
At times the entire keyboard will not work other times it works partially. I have reset the machine, deleted the keyboard and Windows 10 then reinstalls the Windows 10 drivers. Has anyone with a Dell experienced these issues? Is this a Windows 10 issue or
a Dell hardware issue? Any input would be appreciated. Thank you.

 

Windows 10 upgrade problem, no input accepted

I really hate having to come here and ask for help, but I really am stumped. It hurts my geek pride. I have a PC with fairly modern hardware in it. It has a p8p67 pro in it. I have tried upgrading windows 10 on it twice now. Both times I have had the same result.

After windows finishes upgrading it goes to the log in/set up screen. I can't do anything. No keyboard or mouse input is accepted.

I will list some, or hopefully all, of the troubleshooting steps I have tried:

• Move keyboard and mouse to different USB ports.
• Try different keyboard or mouse.
• Restart computer, repeatedly.
• Google for related issues.
• Update Bios, because why not.
• Create boot media and revert to windows 7.

The windows 10 system restore boot media works fine with keyboard and mouse. All USB ports work in windows 7. I don't know what is wrong. I suspect that windows 10 is lacking a driver of some sort, but since the computer accepts no input I have no way of checking for which driver let alone installing it.

Please help me figure this out. If I have to revert back to windows 7 again, I am not going to get it upgraded to windows 10. Thank you in advanced.
