Windows 10: Dell Laptop running while in sleep mode

Apparently my Dell Inspiron 15 laptop began running while in sleep mode i.e. w/ lid closed. When I tried to logon this a.m., I became aware laptop was running at high speed, as if downloading a Windows update. I had to perform hard-stop to take control and logon. I then received a "please wait" for about 1 min before I could logon.


This happens periodically. There is typically no message, such as "Update in progress" or "please wait"; screen is dark. I have scheduled updates to take place when laptop is not in use. However, this was not a Windows update; I checked Update History and most recent was on 5/22. I also checked my Norton antivirus, and there was no scan in progress.


My question is what causes this uncontrolled hard-drive activity. Is this a Windows issue or a computer hardware issue? Does the hard-stop create any problem with function, besides ? Thanks for any suggestions!

Sleep mode issue Dell laptop.

I have a Dell 15-3552 running Insider build 17634. When I put it into sleep mode the AC power disconnects from battery and won't reconnect on waking computer till I unplug the AC from the charger and reconnect it. Unplugging the charger output from the
computer doesn't restore charging mode only disconnecting AC power input. I had enabled hybrid sleep and set the laptop to wake from my wireless mouse but disabling that didn't fix the issue.

 

Airplane Mode Grayed Out after Laptop went into Sleep Mode

Running a Dell Laptop with Windows10. Airplane mode was off and wi-fi connected and working. The laptop screen was closed putting the laptop into sleep mode. When I opened up, entered my password, the laptop came back up and the airplane mode was on. I
cannot turn airplane mode off. There is no physical switch to turn the Wi-Fi on/off. I have already tried Fn and PrintScreen to no avail. Any other suggestions?

 

ASUS Laptop Won't Wake from Sleep Mode

Problem: about 80% of the time, my laptop won't wake up from sleep mode via keyboard press or mouse move/click. I seem to be missing many common features in power plan too, even after fresh Windows 10 install.

Troubleshooting Steps:

1. Reinstalled Windows 10 (clean)
2. Updated all drivers
3. Replicated on multiple Windows 10 versions, updates
4. BIOS latest version
5. No USB devices attached, ever. Only USB-C power and bluetooth mouse
6. Disabled "fast startup" in control panel
