Dell Monitors Taking Over Default Audio Every Time I Dock Laptop

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad w Windows 10 Enterprise. I have 2 Dell U2417H monitors hooked up to my dock via DP. Whenever I get back to my desk with my pc and plug it in, I have no audio thru my headset, because the monitors are taking it over.Once I disable them, the sounds goes back to my headset and everything is fine, until I take my pc away and come back. Even though my headset is default, nothing seems to help.Any thoughts? Thanks.

    :)

  2. Windows 10 1903 - Laptop Docking with Multiple Monitors, Settings Fail

We are observing with Multiple Dell Latitude systems post upgrade to Windows 10 1903 video support for multiple external monitors when docking a laptop fails, presenting the users with a black screen, that is only resolved by undocking, allow the video to
refresh, then re-docking and spending considerable time going back into the display settings to re-adjust all of the personalization.

Some of the steps taken to this point have been to, uninstall the Intel Driver suite provided by Dell, allow Windows to install the default drivers, re-run Windows update for any changes and test, unfortunately this did not resolved
the video management problems. The second step taken what to uninstall the drivers after the default Windows update and re-install the latest driver suite from Dell, again repeating the same steps and again resulting in unstable multiple monitor support when
    docking the laptops.

We have covered the basics by setting the desired "primary display" in settings to one of the external displays. Diving into driver details does show that Microsoft installs a default Intel driver dating back to 2017 or 2018, while Dell and Intel provide
newer drivers, none of these are working.

It's clear the problem is between Microsoft - Dell - Intel, a lack of testing.

Sure would like to see if others have had this problem and suggest solutions.

    Thanks,

    Dave

  4. Dell Monitors Taking Over Default Audio Every Time I Dock Laptop

Audio not working through a docking station

This is happening for me as well on my Surface Pro 3. Audio plays through the Dell D3100 USB docking station when docked on the SP3 docking station. I take the surface off the docking station and the audio switches to Surface built in speakers. When I
re-dock the surface, the sound continues to play through the Surface despite the Audio playback devise settings suggest the sound should be coming through the Dell D3100. The issue persists after attempting to re-assign the default device. The only way
that I have found to correct this is to reboot the surface while docked but it all goes to **** once the Surface is removed from the dock.

    - This system was upgraded from Windows 8.1 (Issues did not exist in Windows 8.1)

    - 8.1 DisplayLink drivers removed and updated to version 7.9.296.0
