Windows 10: DELL PC BIOS upgrade

I have a 10-year-old DELL PC Optiplex 3010 and still receive BIOS updates from DELL. I've collected about 2 dozen updates and never installed any of them. If I had a backup plan I would have installed them. However, knowing how a bad BIOS update can brick a PC I've always avoided installing them. The PC is working fine and I have no idea if I would benefit from the upgrade, but I am curious and would like to do so. I have 2 questions:1 Can I install the last update I was sent or is it a cumulative process and I must install all 2 dozen of them consecutively?2 If any update fails, do I hav

some dells require dell-branded wifi cards the use white-listed bios's so unless you wanna go tinkering with the bios you are stuck with whatever cards are white-listed in the bios
633ANHMW is pretty much the only MIMO capable card that will work
Try and get the dell branded one if you can

 

How to Dump Networking Parameters?


Had a customer with this problem, they had a brand new Dell Optiplex 3050, with Windows 10 1709, and Realtek Gbit Family of lan adapters (wired connection). After much troubleshooting (many suggestions listed in the course of this thread), it turned out the PC needed a bios update. Among the updates listed on the dell website for bios version 1.52 (I flashed it with the latest 1.92) was "Update RealtekLOM".

LOM is "lan on motherboard" and the Realtek has flashable firmware.

One step for others having this issue is to check their computer manufacturer's website for "Lom" firmware updates for the particular network adapter - whether integrated or an add-in.
