    Dell XPS 13: Freezes on Dell logo on restart, but boots from cold fine


    Morning - we just bought (our second) XPS 13 which I did a clean install of Windows 10 on (to claim back as much disk space as possible). All okay, except when selecting 'Restart' from the 'Start Button/Power', the computer freezes on the Dell logo, not even getting to the spinning dots stage. *cry

    If I turn the laptop off and re-boot, all is well. Also, if I go into BIOS/UEFI and re-boot from there, it boots back to Windows okay: Windows will just not restart itself. Since the BIOS re-booting works okay, I was wondering if this is a Windows problem (Dell have been no help at all on their forums for me).

    All the drivers are up-to-date, as are all the MS upates, which are set to automatic.

    Any help would be much appreciated - by all those on the Dell forums! *really

    New laptop gets frozen everytime during reboot (Dell XPS)

    I got a brand new Dell XPS 13 9350 laptop yesterday. I am facing a big problem that my laptop won't reboot during any software/ Windows update. It gets stuck at the Dell logo screen for hours and needs a hard shutdown (by pressing the power button for a
    few seconds) followed by a regular boot to load the OS properly. This means that I can't install any application which requires a restart during its installation. Even if I try to manually reboot the PC, all of the time it freezes on the Dell screen and won't
    load any further (none of the Function keys work on this screen). My BIOS is up to date (System has a UEFI bios not Legacy). Windows Diagnostics, Dell Diagnostics show that everything is working fine.

    So to summarize, the PC works well during normal shutdown and cold boot. It just won't restart through Windows. I contacted the Dell and they insist it is a software issue not a hardware one and they can't resolve it. Any help provided through this forum
    will be appreciated... Dell XPS 13: Freezes on Dell logo on restart, but boots from cold fine :)

    Windows 10 extremely slow to boot up

    My isn't just "slow" - it FREEZES!

    I do a restart to install updates and it gives me that screen showing percentage and then, when it reaches 100% it goes black, then shows the DELL logo - and simply stops. Cold. Period. I have waited up to 20 minutes and nada.

    Have to manually turn off, wait 1 minute, and turn back on. Everything fine. Updates installed.
