Windows 10: Dell XPS L502x intell 3000/Nvidia geforce GT 540M driver errors

Since we upgraded to win 10 home /1909 we have had issues with setting up an external monitor. Initially win 10 froze as soon as we attached the hdmi cable, even with the monitor off.

Initially we tried the latest driver from Nvidia, however this isn't compatible. We installed the latest win 8.1/64 drivers from Dell (no specific drivers for win 10). Initially all started well - the Nvidia catalyst dual screen software almost worked - saw some icons starting to appear, but then the monitor reverted to blank, leaving with just the laptop screen Device Manager showed errors for both the Intel & Nvidia drivers. Windows message suggested updating drivers via Windows Update - we did this and the system crashed - blue screen. Startup repair reverted to Microsoft Basic Drivers; Device Manager no longer shows any graphics listed.

Anyone have any suggestions or are these graphics products incompatible?

upgrading Dell XPS L502X to Windows 10

Having upgraded my Dell XPS L502x to Windows 10 Pro, I have come across a few issues.

A couple of devices didn't get the correct drivers straight away. (nVidia and Audio) Those were sorted easily enough (although the nVidia driver doesn't seem to have all the same features)

The main issues come with multi-screen displays.

Intel's Widi no longer works as they don't support 2nd or 3rd Gen iCore processors, 3000 graphics series with Windows 10. Even Miracast doesn't seem to work.

There are also issues with using the HDMI output. The 'Clone' screen feature doesn't give any output. (But extended and single screens work)

Intel are refusing to help with the situation. Unless Microsoft or Dell wish to step in, I feel there will be no resolution from Intel.

My recommendation is to NOT upgrade your L502x to Windows 10 unless you don't have any plans for Multi-Screen Displays.

 

Windows 10 Display Issues - Grey Blur lines - Dell XPS L502x

Dear Team,

Recently updated from Windows 7 to WIndows 10 Pro - 10240 Build on my laptop Dell XPS L502x.

I am getting Light Grey lines on right side of the laptop screen as given below.

I have installed all Latest updates for Windows 10 / NVidia drivers / INTEL Drivers HD Graphics 3000 as required.

Actually i have two Graphics Cards - Intel HD Graphics (Sandy Bridge) 3000 and Nvidia GT 540M (2GB) under Display Devices in Device Manager. So i have updated both of the Drivers for these two and restarted but still the same issues persists.

Let me know if any other options have to be tried.

upgrading Dell XPS L502X to Windows 10

Ok I fixed it. I had to install the latest Intel Management Engine driver listed at Support für XPS 15 L502X | Treiber und Downloads | Dell Deutschland when
I selected windows 8. Fixed my problem completely.
