    Desktop and Laptop can't see each other on P2P cable set-up


    I have a bit of an urgent problem with my P2P network.

    My laptop is failing and needs repair but the drive is fine I believe, so I urgently need to do a system image backup to my desktop PC. I usually do this by disabling WIFI on both machines, and connecting the two machines via an Ethernet cable in a P2P set up. It usually takes a few presses of refresh in "Network" for both machines to see each other, but eventually usually works and I can do the backup using System Image Backup.

    However, now my two machines are connected but nothing is showing - on the laptop side, my desktop PC does actually show up in the "Network" screen, but when double clicking on it it just brings up the screen to diagnose the problem and says that it can't connect.

    The desktop PC shows nothing at all in the Network window. It scans when I press refresh but nothing is returned. This is proving a real pain in the ass because the laptop keyboard is failing and I can't really do much on that side without a lot of effort with on-screen keyboards and such.

    Is there anything I might be missing to stop Windows 10 setting up the P2P network between the two machines?

    HELLO : as you can see by my hello caps I am not a happy camper. I have just spent 3 hours trying to find out why the following is just not working.

    1st I have 2 computers both with win10 home and right now they are sitting 27 1/2" away from each other and they cannot connect to each other the desktop can't find my laptop and my laptop can't find my desktop the result is my laptop says it cannot create
    a homegroup and there is none available while my desktop say I am joined, as I said they are inches apart so step by step I made sure each setting was matched on each computer for everything and I mean everything and still not homegroup on my laptop. Before
    I switched to win10 I had win 7 and it worked like a charm, I am seriously thinking of returning to win 7till I can afford 2 new computers with win 10 maybe 5 years from now there will be no problems.

    WiFi and Ethernet not seeing each other

    I have three wired Ethernet devices ( a desktop, and two media servers). I have five Wi-Fi devices: a tablet, a laptop, and three printers) The wired devices can see each other, but cannot see any Wi-Fi devices, including the Home group created by the
