Desktop background keeps reverting to a specific picture every time I change itI have an original Windows 11 installation on a brand new asus laptop.The desktop background came preconfigured to a picture. I want to change it from that picture to a solid black color.I right-click on the desktop and choose "Personalize", then "Background", then change "Picture" to "Solid Color", then choose black.Then the desktop background changes to black as expected.After about a minute, the background changes back to the original picture. Desktop background keeps reverting to a specific picture every time I change it

I have an original Windows 11 installation on a brand new asus laptop.

The desktop background came preconfigured to a picture. I want to change it from that picture to a solid black color.

I right-click on the desktop and choose "Personalize", then "Background", then change "Picture" to "Solid Color", then choose black.

Then the desktop background changes to black as expected.

After about a minute, the background changes back to the original picture. It's always the same picture. I am not running multiple monitors. I've tried rebooting. I've tried selecting "New Desktop" by hovering over the icon to the right of the "Search" on the task bar.

I just installed Windows 11 in a brand new asus laptop. I have created two users, both as admins with two different backgrounds themes (pictures, not slideshow). And the problem begins...

At first it seemed that the second users background always reverted to be the same as first user. So I created two more users and deleted the previous two. Then for every user I set a new picture as background, both different than those of previous users. Now both backgrounds acting totally crazy and keep reverting to a specific picture, one of the deleted users background!!

The picture was one of the windows 11 defaults. I tried locating the folder where default themes being saved at c/windows/web and cut them and paste them to a different location to see what will happen. Now both tlbackgrounds reverting to another picture that I have set at some point in the past to one of the users.

Should I gave up with windows 11 and try if I can install windows 10?

I am the Op, someone blocked me from replying to my own thread. I will continue from this..

I couldn't bear with this behavior anymore and I decided to format my laptop. I restored windows 11 choosing to delete everything (apps, files etc). I chose Local as the method of installation, so I didn't have to boot from usb or anything.

I was on my battery and everything was working fine for hours. Again, I made two local users, both as admins, and gave them to different backgrounds (as pictures, not slideshow). I installed my apps again, restarting the machine when it was needed, signing in and out without any problem so far. Then my battery died, so I did plugged it in and started to downloading steam. As soon as I plugged the laptop in and installed the steam, second users background changed to slideshow, even though I have set it to be picture!! And here we go again...

I set the same background as a picture maybe 5 or 6 times and every time it kept reverting back to slideshow! Then I edited the power plan and chose slideshow to be paused even when the laptop is plugged. This is when second users background started to reverting into first user background!

So eventually I open the registry and I double click on each of them and deleted their value. Nothing changed! The second user keeps reverting to the first user background!

This is pure madness hahah
