Windows 10: Desktop disappeared??

So I was just using my desktop and then my doc files and folders all stopped opening for some reason so I was like let me restart, I restart and boom all my folders, docs, txt files all gone!

I freak out but I read somewhere that if you go to users and go to desktop you will find your stuff there and I did, but its weird it shows two desktops now! Look: https://imgur.com/srbytp4

One of those desktops is completely empty while the other has all my files/folders

The only issue is that my current desktop (the empty one) is currently showing up, look: https://imgur.com/UZ6XwUQ

It only has 1 program.

How can I make the desktop that has all my files and stuff as "active" ?! Cos again it has the empty desktop as active...

I was thinking of copy pasting my old desktop to this empty active one but decided to double check with you guys first!

Its so weird all my folders docs txt files all gone but my games and programs stayed...

Under users I see two desktops > one empty and one has all my folders, docs, txt files > the empty desktop is the currently showing up as my main desktop while the desktop that has all my things is not > is it okay to copy paste from that desktop to the current empty one or will I corrupt something? > is their a more efficient method?? Thanks!

Desktop Disappeared After Windows 10 Update

After upgrading to windows 10, my desktop completely disappeared, sometimes it will flash for a micro second. The Desktop folder is still in my folder list and I can access it that way but prefer to have access to my desktop. I saw the other thread where
it suggested a clean boot, but this did not work. Any other suggestions?

Desktop shortcuts disappearing

One of the computers i maintain has a few of the desktop shortcuts disappearing now and then. It runs windows 7, and has a shitload of shortcuts on the desktop.

Any idea what might cause this?

 

Desktop Icons disappeared

Hi Kinsley,

• Are you referring to the desktop icons?
• When did the icons disappear? Did you make any changes to the system Settings?

It's possible that your device is in Tablet mode. I suggest you to turn it off and check if the icons appear. To do so, select the
Action center icon on the taskbar (the little message box next to the date and time), and then select
Tablet mode to turn it on or off.
