Windows 10: desktop folder deleted due to win update..

Hello. I've got an older computer, and every so often, it does an automatic update, which no longer has the option to turn off. My pc cannot handle the update, so it freezes, I have to reset it, and it restores to the previous version for the next month and a half. So this auto update started again tonight, and this time after all of that, it came to the main desktop, but with an error saying the desktop folder in windows was deleted. I can't do anything in the screen, except ctrl alt del to reset/turn off the pc. naturally, I have no real way to restore it other than a total re-install.


I am currently in the process of re-installing windows, but I was wondering if this happened to anyone else, and if so, is there a way to fix it without the reinstall? I've even had the tech folks from Microsoft take over my pc and turn off updates in the past, but it still updated. So if this happens again...? Thank you for your time, and I hope you can help.

Trouble deleting a folder

Thanks for the suggestion but it says "delete folder failed for E:\....." for each folder I try.

*Confused

Will I be forever stuck with these unnecessary folders? *Oh Well hwell:

 

windows 10 deleted my desktop files

Step 1 - I upgraded to Win 10 and lost all my files on Desktop.

Step 2 - Found the files in Network - USers- Desktop

copied all files again to desktop.

Step 3- Restarted my machine again and lost desktop files again.

Step 4 - As suggested did the following as listed below but dont find my files.

• Press “Windows + E”, open This PC/Computer
• Open Local Disc C, open Windows.old
• Click on Users, select your User name
• Go to desktop folder

Cant find my files. Why is Win 10 deleted files again and again from Desktop ?.

One of the possible reasons why you're getting this concern is due to appropriate permission on your file or folder. We suggest to use the Command Prompt in deleting your files. To do that, please follow the steps below:

• Type cmd on your search bar and press Enter to open
  Command Prompt.
• In the Command Prompt, enter del and location of the folder or file you want to delete and press
  Enter.

For example: del c:\users\JohnDoe\Desktop\text.txt
