Windows 10: Desktop folder location set at disk d: mistakenly. Now cant Move it to a specified folder.

After I have created the disc Partition D: , I changed the desktop location to a direct D drive without creating any specified desktop folder on the D partition, now the whole partition acts as a desktop partition. If I create any new folder in the D partition it comes on my home screen. And I can't even change the location back as it shows that "Cant redirect a parent into a child", again if I try to change the location of the desktop to the previous C drive location then it shows invalid.Please help me out to change the location of the Desktop location to a folder in drive D...

No tried that.

Can copy the entire folder to D; but Windows still points to C as the location. Can change personal folders location to a folder on D;, but this still leaves hidden files etc on C;. Thus meaning there are 2 Users folders. Have managed to change the Public folder location to D;, with some registry tweaks, but this doesnt seem to work for the entire folder.

any more suggestions

Your screenshots were cut, but can fix the issue:

Right click the D: drive > Properties > Location > Set the location to the desktop Default location: C:\Users\(Username)\Desktop

Will you be prompted to move the files, I recommend selecting No, and move your files manually later, because if you select Yes, all files on D: will be moved to the Desktop folder.

If you had other libraries on the D: drive, their location probably changed, open each one and correct the path.

This probably happened because you selected D: as the Desktop location path, it can be confusing but will need to select the folder that will allocate the Desktop library, not the location you want to move the folder. If you want to move Desktop to D:, create a Desktop folder on D: and select this folder on the location tab. The same applies to other libraries (Music, Videos, Pictures...)

 

Getting folder names and not location in VB .Net

Hey guys,
I'm getting a problem with my line of code and can't seem to find a workaround that works (all I can find is VB 6)

Code: CheckedListBox1.Items.AddRange(IO.Directory.GetDirectories("my directory here"))[/quote] This deposits all folders locations into a list box but I only need the actual folder name
e.g:

Deposits: C:\Users\Onafets
But all I want is "Onafets"

Is there any way to do this?
