Windows 10: Desktop icon showing on screen no matter what file is open

After last windows update, two of my desktop icons remain visible no matter what file is open. Say I open a browser or a Word document, all the other icons disappear except these two. Their presence doesn't interfere with what ever I'm doing and they don't show up on print outs, but I see them there on the screen and it is very distracting. If you look at my screenshot, you can see the Excel icon on the far left and the otherI don't remember what it represents right in the written field. They don't move when I page up/down so I can read around them but it is annoying! How do I get rid of ?

Remove Linux Desktop Icons

I am not sure whether this will work (Ubuntu does not have icons like that on the desktop by default), but I suggest opening the trash bin and sweeping the icons into the window showing the trash bin.

Have you tried toggling the Desktop icons on and off?

• Right-click on an open area of the Desktop
• Click: View
• If Show Desktop icons is already checked, uncheck it.
• Repeat the above steps a time or two.
• Check: Show Desktop icons

If no go on the above, right-click on the empty Desktop, and create a file.

• Which build is currently running on your computer?
• Did you make any recent software changes on your computer?

As an initial step I would suggest you Right click on Desktop Window> View > Check Shows desktop icons, check if the desktop icons are back on desktop.

Check if the Icons or files are available in the My Documents>Desktop folder, check if icons are visible in the folder.
