Windows 10: Desktop icons intermittently not launching programs

    Desktop icons intermittently not launching programs


    I have a Dell Inspiron 7700 AIO running the latest version of Windows 11 and have a weird problem.. I run a program for example the Foxpro browser, then exit the program. If I try to restart Foxpro within a minute or two of shutting it down, it won't immediately restart. I have noted that the highlight that appears around a desktop icon when you hover your mouse over it does not appear. I can hover the mouse over some other icon on the desktop and the highlight will appear and that icon will launch its program. The highlight appears with some of the icons on the desk

    Remove Linux Desktop Icons

    I am not sure whether this will work (Ubuntu does not have icons like that on the desktop by default), but I suggest opening the trash bin and sweeping the icons into the window showing the trash bin.

    Desktop Icons Won't Stay Put

    Hi Laurie,

    As per the issue description I understand that you are facing issues with desktop icons.

    I suggest you try the following step in order to arrange the icons.

    • Right click on the desktop.
    • Click on view
    • Check the option auto arrange icons.
