Windows 10: Desktop icons move 1 position left on wake up only if there are icons placed on the right...

Randomly when my PC wakes up from sleep my desktop icons will move left 1 grid position. This seems to only happen when there are icons placed on the right side of each screen. I have gone through all the steps you will find searching online such as auto arrange off, lock to grid etc etc. Windows 11 ProRTX 40803x 4K Monitors 1x LG, 2x Samsung

How to prevent desktop icons from changing positions

There are various reasons why you're experiencing the issue. Let us isolate your concern by enabling the
Auto arrange icons option, and then disabling it to see if the issue will persist. To do this follow these steps:

• Go to the Desktop screen, and then right click anywhere.
• Hover your mouse on View.
• Select Auto arrange icons.
• Restart the computer.
• After restarting the computer, check if your Desktop icons are still in the right position after clicking the
  Auto arrange icons option.
• If your Desktop icons are in the right position, repeat steps 1-3 to disable the
  Auto arrange icons option.
  
• Customize the position of your Desktop icons.
• Restart the computer.
• After restarting the computer, check if the issue will occur.

Remove Linux Desktop Icons

I am not sure whether this will work (Ubuntu does not have icons like that on the desktop by default), but I suggest opening the trash bin and sweeping the icons into the window showing the trash bin.

 

Windows 10 can't lock desktop icons in place

In Windows 10, there are ways to keep the icons in place. To make them stay in their location, we suggest that you check these methods:

Method 1:

• In your desktop, right click on an open area.
• Select Personalise, click Themes on the left menu.
• Remove the checkmark on Allow themes to change desktop icons, then click
  Apply.
• Arrange your icons where you want them to be.

Method 2:

• In an open area, right click on your desktop.
• Select View, on the drop down menu Auto arrange icons shouldn't have a checkmark and
  Align icons to grid should have a checkmark.
