Windows 10: Desktop icons not aligning properly

Hello, is it possible to adjust desktop icon width? I know you're able to change the height by holding CTRL and scrolling, but I'm trying to reduce the width. It may be easier to explain with an image, so here:



Ever since getting a second monitor, for some reason, I haven't been able to align my icons all the way to the right edge unless I used 150% scaling, which lessens productivity on my other monitor when I got it so I could be more productive. Using CTRL + scroll wheel doesn't allow me to drag stuff further to the right either, so anyone got a clue on how to fix this?

My desktop icons move to a grid on the left for no reason

Hello,

If your icons are aligned to a grid, this means that the settings of your desktop are currently auto arranged and automatically aligned. Since you want to rearrange your desktop icons on however you like them, we suggest that you follow these steps:

• Right-click at a blank area on your desktop.
• Hover on View.
• In the right pane, look for Auto arrange icons. If it's checked, make sure to uncheck it.
• Hover again on View.
• This time, look for Align icons to grid. If it's checked, make sure to uncheck it.

After doing these steps, you'll be able to rearrange all your desktop icons again on how you want it.

Desktop icons auto right alignment

I understand that you are trying to align the desktop icons to right so that the background focus doesn't block. We will help you.

There is no option to automatically align the icons to right. But I suggest you to select all the icons by holding shift + clicking on the icons, drag the icons to right and release them so that it sits at right.

Cannot put icons on the left side of my desktop

You should be able to arrange your desktop icons however you want. Since you want them all aligned on the left side of your desktop screen, we suggest that you follow these steps:

• Right-click at a blank area on your desktop.
• Hover on View.
• In the right pane, look for Auto arrange icons. If it's checked, make sure to uncheck it.
• Hover again on View.
• This time, check Align icons to grid. Your icons should now be aligned on the left side of the screen.
