This happens on my computer with windows 11, and I already replaced the motherboard on this one, because I had a similar problem before icons not showing, and more glitches in general. Here, I only have a problem with my shortcuts icons they should display a small arrow on the bottow left :This si how they show up, and sometimes like this : When they should be displayed like this :This never happens on startup, only after I start using my pc for a while. I couldn't identify a behaviour that triggers this glitch.Plus, I noticed my windows explorer is SUPER slow and 5-10s to open a folder som

  2. Remove Linux Desktop Icons

I am not sure whether this will work (Ubuntu does not have icons like that on the desktop by default), but I suggest opening the trash bin and sweeping the icons into the window showing the trash bin.

  3. Desktop icons scattering after connecting secondary display

    Hello,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

    1. Are you aware of any changes being made to the PC?
    2. Which version of Windows 10 you are using currently?
    3. Are you using a HDMI cable or a VGA cable to connect the display?
    4. How are you re-arranging the icons?
    5. Have you tried connecting the display first and then switching on the PC?

I suggest you to try the steps mentioned below and check if that helps.

    Method 1:

Try aligning the icons to grid.

    1. Right click on the desktop and click on View.
    2. Now click on auto arrange icons and click on
      align icons to grid.

    Method 2:

Try updating the display and monitor drivers. Refer the article

    .

    Hope it helps.
