Windows 10: Desktop icons OneDrive status constantly changing

My desktop icons have little mini icons on the bottom left corner of the main icon - cloud, check marks, file box, arrow. I have already unlinked my OneDrive from my PC but these mini icons continually cycle through and it's INCREDIBLY distracting while I'm trying to work. I don't know how to make them stop or even disappear altogether. Please help!

When connected to the internet, all my desktop icons continually flicker their 'status'.

Normally a destop icon has a small arrow in the bottom left corner indicating it is a shortcut. Or none, indicating it is a file on the desktop.

But mine alternate between the arrow, an 'uploading' symbol, a cross, and sometimes a 'no entry' label. This seems to be a problem only when I am online.

I thought it might be something to do with an automatic backing up, maybe onedrive, which I do not use and cannot find on the apps list.

I just recently noticed that there are status icons appearing on my desktop, what does it mean? No its not in my onedrive but in my desktop folder, and these icons also appear with icons on my desktop.

Thank you for replying.

I understand your concern and suggest you to Unlink OneDrive and run OneDrive setup
again and check. Here is the steps:

• 
  Right-click the white OneDrive cloud icon in the notification area, at the far right of the taskbar.
  
  
  
  (You might need to click the Show hidden icons arrow next to the notification area to see the
  OneDrive icon.)
  
• 
  Click Settings, and then click Unlink.
  
• 
  Follow the steps in the Welcome to OneDrive wizard to set up OneDrive.
