Desktop Icons Very, Very Slow To Load From A Cold Boot and File Explorer Locking Up

I have Windows 10 Pro 1909. I did a fresh install about a month ago and until recently, my computer was very responsive. (I have an SSD boot drive and an Intel I7 processor.) Boot times were very fast. Then, without warning, I booted up my computer yesterday
and none of the Icons on my desktop would load, then file explorer locked up. I waited a few minutes and gradually the icons slowly appeared. I restarted the file explorer service, and everything worked as normal. I restarted my computer (not completely shutting
it off) and everything seemed as responsive as it normally was. Then, I shut it down all the way and performed a cold boot--the original problem appeared: Icons taking minutes to load and file explorer locking up. Also, when I do a cold boot, I can get to
the log-on page for my account quickly, but when I log in it takes way, way longer than it used to. The strange thing is that everything seems to be as responsive as normal except for when I actually log into my account. Something is very wrong and I have
searched high and low for an answer but have found none. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

  3. Remove Linux Desktop Icons

I am not sure whether this will work (Ubuntu does not have icons like that on the desktop by default), but I suggest opening the trash bin and sweeping the icons into the window showing the trash bin.

Final boot to desktop hangs when cold start.

    Hello,

I run Win 10 Home, fully up to date with all drivers upto date, signed drivers btw, and registry cleaned from left overs etc with ccleaner.

My issue is that when cold booting (after complete shut down) I get to the desktop in under a minute and it appears all is well. However as soon as I click on the Start or any where for that matter the spinning blue circle appears and the system seems frozen.
Nothing will work or open. After a period ranging from 3 to 5 minutes, suddenly the boot finishes and any clicks I may have made are excecuted, ie. Start opens, Task Bar activates an icon I clicked minutes earlier.

I have followed all the suggestions I could find in these forums etc etc , all to no avail.

On boot logging the start up process I notice that dxgkrnl.sys attempts to load 4 more time after a successful load. The additional attempts all fail and are logged in the last 20 or so load processes.

With no possible other errors or seemingly bad drivers, processes or anything else I can think off, I wonder if these failures to load the directx kernel causes this issue?

Can anybody tell me about the following:

1)What drives/causes the dxgkrnl.sys to be loaded and why 5 times.

2)A search for dxgkrnl.sys finds 6 instances with varies file dates and sizes ranging from 250kb for the oldest file to 1.90Mg for the most current in C:windows/system32/drivers. What if I remove the other instances?

3)What or where is the file/registry record that drives the loading of drivers at bootup time and can it be ammended? (to remove the failing load attempts)

Any help pointing me in the right direction greatly appreciated.

    Cheers
