    Desktop is restarting/freezing after idling.


    A few days ago my discord and game was freezing intermittently so I restartedalso had an update queued. The 24h2 update installed after about 45min and since then my pc had been restarting randomly, i turned off automatic restart to see if it was the issue but now the pc freezes on a single frame after ~20 min requiring a restart to fix. I have rolled back the update, did a memory diagnostic, and updated drivers with no change.Here are my system event viewer logs, i did not have a memory dump folder and the minidump folder was empty.My desktop is only about a year old with;CPU: Ryzen 7 5800x

    comp freezes when idle?

    It's so weird to say first of all, but my comp freezes sometimes when its just sitting at idle? With load even full it has no problems, no lock-ups in games, but if it is just sitting on the desktop sometimes it freezes and i have to restart. Any ideas?

    lol i guess my comp hates sitting doing nothing.*Roll :roll:

    Windows 10 restarts after being idle and then freezes on boot

    If I leave my Windows 10 machine idle for some period of time - I haven't been able to work out how long - something fails and the machine restarts. After it restarts it will freeze on the boot screen, i.e., the screen with the spinner. Multiple hard resets
    do not fix the freezing problem. Sometimes I can force the machine to restart in Safe Mode - in some case it will then boot into Safe mode, and in other cases it will boot into regular mode as if nothing had happened.

    I have:

    • scanned my RAM, which found no errors
    • Reinstalled Windows from media
    • Performed a system restore
    Yet, the problem persists.

    In order for us to find out what causes your desktop to freeze after logging in, we would like to gather more information:

    • Did you make any recent changes on your computer prior to this issue?
    • What other troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?
    • When the computer freezes, do you get an error message?
