Windows 10: Desktop is stuck...

I am using Windows 10 latest version, as of this posting, on an all-in-one Acer desktop.

I turned on my computer today. Once I logged in, my background came up, with no desktop icons. I am not in tablet mode and and there aren’t tablet apps. It is a totally blank screen, other than my background no icons on the toolbar. If I attempt to drag the mouse over anything on the bottom like go to the menu, settings, etc, is the blue thinking ring. I have tried to task manager, to see what is rolling, and the only but it won’t show it to me it will sign out. I tried to go into the administrator login, and the screen stays black. I have restarted or turned off LOTS’O TIMES. I have unplugged and let it rest while it was off. I get the same result every time.

I’m a little lost. I’ve tried every which way to google this, and I keep coming up with how to get out of tablet mode. I can’t access anything to run any scans. I can’t see what’s running. Does anyone have any suggestions? I truly appreciate any and all!

windows update stuck at installation screen and cannot get to desktop

To understand the issue better, I would like to ask some questions:

• Is the computer stuck in the Installing updates screen?
• For how long is the computer stuck in the screen?
• When was the computer last updated?
• Is the screen showing any percentage of installation?

Sometimes the installation might take a long time to install if the update is of large size. So, I suggest you to wait for sometime and check if the system boots to the desktop. If it is taking a longer time, then perform a Power Drain by following the steps
provided below:

• Shut down the Computer.
• Remove all power source (including battery if it is a laptop).
• Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds.
• Connect the power source and start the computer.
• After the computer boots to the desktop, suggest you to install all the pending updates.

Stuck in a loop after windows performed repair

As per the information that you have provided, I suggest that you perform Power Drain as you are stuck in a loop and this might help you access the desktop screen. To learn how to perform this follow the steps below

• Unplug the charger and remove the battery of your laptop, if using a desktop remove the power
  cord.
• Press and hold the Power button for 30sec
• Plug the charger/power cord and restart system

To resolve your issue with flickering desktop, we suggest that you update your display drivers with the steps listed below:

• Right-click Start, then select Device Manager.
• Expand Display Adapters to find the name of your device.
• Right-click the device and select Update Driver Software.
• Follow steps to update display drivers.
