  1. Desktop laggy

    Hello,

I upgraded my PC a few days ago. New motherboard, CPU, GPU, RAM ... actually you can say everything. What I did not do was reinstalling Windows. The problem is, I don't know if this problem started to occur before the change, so I have hope it's not related to not reinstalling Windows because everything else is working like intended.

The destkop is a bit laggy. Not that much problematic because everything works, but it still makes me a bit worried. It lags when I hover my mouse quickly over the icons. It's like having 1 FPS. I don't know if it's in my head now but moving windows around on the desktop is also a bit wonky. Also scrolling in the browser. I can see in the resource monitor that Explorer.exe gets about 6% CPU-load if I quickly hover over the icons. But that's the only thing I can take from that.

    My hardware before the change:

MB: ASROCK Z68 Pro3 Gen3 RAM: 16GB DDR3 (Don't know which one) CPU: Intel i5 2500k (stock) GPU: GTX 1060 6GB Soundcard: ASUS Xonar Essence STX Disk Drives: 1x SSD and 2x HDD (system drive is SSD)

    What I changed:

MB: ASUS PRIME Z490-A RAM: 32GB DDR4 G.SKILL AEGIS 3200 MHz CPU: Intel i5 10600K (stock settings) GPU: GTX 1080 Ti (stock settings)

The display is a BenQ XL2411Z running at 1080p@144Hz

I'm not sure if all the drivers are up to date. Chipset, LAN, GPU and Soundcard are up to date. The only thing I could update which I know is outdated is the BIOS. But I want to check everything else before I update the BIOS. Except if it is BIOS related of course. Windows is up to date and on the newest version 2004.

Games are playing like intended and butter smooth. It's only the desktop. Can anyone help me?
