Windows 10: desktop not updating visual after login, minus taskbar

Greetings!Lately I've had this issue where after I log in the screen doesn't update, minus the taskbar. So it looks as if its a normal desktop with the taskbar, but no icons and my wallpaper is a screenshot of my login screen.Opening windows or clicking and dragging the selection box will cause that area to update to correctly show the desktop and icons.I disabled some visual settings for energy efficiency and it started happening around that time, is there a fix for this or a specific setting? I could not find anything remotely close with my current google skillsWindows 10Nvidia 1050tiAMD R

Windows 10 for Visually impaired

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

As per the issue description your girlfriend is visually impaired and can't see the icons and you want black color as the background color. Here are the steps which might help you to fix the issue.

• Press Windows key + X.
• Select Control Panel from the list.
• Select large icons under view by option.
• Click on personalize.
• Select any of the theme under High Contrast theme as per your interest.

In order to enlarge the taskbar icons you may refer to the steps provided below and see if it helps.

• Right click on the task bar.
• Click on Properties.
• Uncheck the box stating "Use small taskbar buttons" under taskbar tab.

I moved this thread to "Programming & Webmastering". I suggest not to use vb6 and go with vb.net 2010 or 2012 express. I'd also, suggest if you are learning from the ground up then start with c#. *Toast :toast:

taskbar tranparency

I would suggest you to change the desktop themes and check if you are able to see the transparent taskbar.

If that doesn't help I would suggest you to end the explorer.exe and restart it and see if you are able to see the transparent taskbar.

Please follow the steps below to restart explorer.exe:

stop and start Explorer.exe

    Right click on the taskbar and select task manager.
    
  • 
    In the process Right click on windows explorer and end the task
    
  • 
    Restart the task by clicking on the file and select new task
    
  • 
    Type Explorer.exe and press enter.
    

And see if it helps.
