  1. Desktop path is actually another folder

    Hi,

    I installed dropbox on my computer and I ended up choosing to synch all the documents of my computer on dropbox so I could access from other computers. However now all the files on my main screen shows the path location like this c:\Users\raquel\Dropbox\My PC\Desktop\new_file instead only c:\Users\raquel\Desktop\new_file. I don't know what I did but I would like to have my main screen back and when I check the location of the file it is c:\Users\raquel\Desktop\.

    Thank you,

    Raquel

    :)

  2. Add a path to $PATH?

    Yeah, I think you're right. I think the purpose of the echo command was to check if ~/bin was in the $PATH file. My problem is that I can't decipher the output and I don't know how to add ~/bin to the $PATH file.

    Just for clarification, the snippet of instructions I gave is just a few steps in the installation process. Nothing is actually supposed to be installed with those steps.

    Thanks for the reply.

  3. Desktop folder stuck with an "empty folder" icon

    That sounded like the solution but actually it didn't work at all.

    I solved in another way, and NOTHING else worked (I've been trying for weeks):

    1. Rename your desktop folder, something like "olddesktop";
    2. Create a new folder called "Desktop";
    3. Apply the Desktop icon stored in imageres.dll (the folder behind the desktop will appear automatically with the imageres.dll icon, the SHELL32.dll icon is just the desktop with no folder behind);
    4. Right-click the old folder and use the "Path" tab to move its content to the new folder;
    5. Delete the "olddesktop" folder;
    6. Refresh your user folder with the F5 key.
