    HiI have a desktop computer that keeps randomly restarting - it happens when not under stress and can be within minutes of turning on. I've tried running chkdsk /f/r and turning off the auto restart function to catch the error, but the last time it happened the computer just froze with no blue screen. The PC is a custom build from overclockers and is about a year old, the power cable seems fine and is connected okay - it doesn't get used for downloading or gaming as it's our "office PC" that we use solely for business admin/video editing in our home.Device specs - running Windows 11 proDevice

    PC Randomly Restarting after installing new Ram!

    Tried your suggestions, but still had a restart! Also ran memtest overnight (13 hours according to memtest) and had no errors! Also ran Passmark Burn in test for a couple hours testing everything and had no errors or restart. Could fitting the new ram have triggered something to go bad like my mobo or psu?

    Yes I tried what we spoke about and still the problem. I have lowered the speed and timings to what was suggested and have just played over an hour with no problems. Will now try my music software and hope I have no problems *Smile desktop randomly restarts when not under stress :)

    The device randomly restarting after the recent update can be related to a possible startup or
    BIOS error. As an initial step to isolate your concern, we suggest that you disable the fast startup feature which collects images for faster boot up. To do this, follow the steps below:

    • Type Control Panel in the search bar and press
      Enter      .
    • On the upper right pane, select Small icons from the View by: drop-down list.
    • Click on Power Options.
    • On the left pane, select Choose what the power buttons do.
    • Click on Change settings that are currently unavailable.
    • Click the Turn on fast startup (recommended) box to remove the check mark.
    • Click Save changes.

    Once you're done, restart your device and check if the issue persists.

    We'll appreciate if you can update us with the result.
