Desktop Resolution and Active Signal resolution

Hi all, I have two monitors, my main is a 1440p monitor while my second is a 1080p. I use a application for animated wallpapers and waned to have them align better. So i set a custom resolution through AMD Radeon to 2560 x 1440. Im looking at the advanced display settings and the desktop resolution is set at 2560 x 1440 while the active signal is 1920 x 1080. Will me setting the resolution to 1440p on a 1080p monitor hurt it in the long run?

    :)

  2. desktop resolution and active signal resolution

I have my desktop resolution set at 1280 x 1024, which is what I want,

but the active signal resolution is set at 1920 x 1080.

Where can I change the active signal resolution to 1280 x 1024?

I have tried going to "display adapter properties" and list all modes,

but this only lets me change the desktop resolution.

desktop resolution and active signal resolution

    Hi MayonAccounting,

it is normal if you change from the recommended resolution.

Typically, your desktop resolution and your active signal resolution will be identical. To provide a smoother experience, Windows prefers to keep your display running at its native signal resolution. If you change your display resolution under Settings > System
    > Display > Scale and layout > Resolution, you may see a difference between your desktop resolution and your active signal resolution.

is there a problem with what you see on the monitor?

    Active signal resolution wrong

I have a 1080p resolution monitor, and I changed the desktop resolution to 1600 X 900 due to my laptop being also 1600 x 900, but when I change desktop resolution, the active signal resolution is different, and stays at 1080p, and is causing issues. I have tried list all modes in the graphics settings, but when I changed it nothing happened, just the desktop resolution changed. I need to change this. Please help.
