Desktop screen no longer scaling correctly when duplicated to a TV

Hey guys, was wondering if someone could help me out with this. When I was using Windows 7 I would connect my computer to a TV via HDMI to watch films, it had no problems scaling correctly, everything that I saw on my desktop screen was on my TV. After upgrading to Windows 10 the resolution on the TV seems to be off, it cuts off most of my desktop so I can't access the bottom taskbar or any icons on the sides of my screen. I've looked into the display settings but I can't seem to set a resolution for a second screen, and using the scaling slider doesn't help much.

My desktop is 1920x1200 and the TV is 1080, even when setting my desktop to 1080 the sides are still cut off. What's going on here? Does anyone have any advice or maybe point me in the right direction on what to look for?

Thank you for your time! I'll be checking back frequently so if there's other info you might need just let me know.

    :)

My computer screen does not duplicate to my t.v.

I recently updated to Windows Anniversary. When I press Win + P it no longer allows me to duplicate my desktop monitor to my tv screen?

Please help. I have updated all of my drivers, including DisplayLink.

  3. Windows 10 Scaling changes when connected a 2nd screen (TV) through HDMI

I have installed Windows 10 Pro on my PC.

Now i want to connect a TV by HDMI via the Graphics Card (Sapphire HD6450)

When i have done this the screen of the TV shows the exact as the PC screen before.

But the screen of the PC changes to desktop and the scaling is miniature small.

At that moment i cannot change the settings of the 2nd screen anymore....because of the small scaling.

When i detach the HDMI connection the PC screen returns to normal scaling, but the 2nd screen option has dissapeared.

    What could be the problem?

Was able to fix this through an overscan underscan slider in AMD Catalyst Control Center.

First of all, make sure you set your resolution to 1920x1080 which you probably have already done. Then go into the TV settings and turn off ALL post-processing effects INCLUDING overscan features.

I had the same problem. I use a 46" VIZIO 1080p HDTV as my monitor too for the past few years. Never had any scaling, resolution, or text issues with Windows 7. When I first installed Windows 10 and scaled @ 125%, it looked like garbage. Same thing with 150% (Which was actually recommended by Windows).

What you are going to have to do is go to 'display settings' and set the 'scaling to 100%' for the most crisp resolution for the desktop and apps. Don't worry, you will get used to it and it will look more modern, clearer, and crisp once your eyes adjust.

After you change it to 100% scaling, go into the 'advanced display settings', click 'advanced sizing of text and other items', scroll down to 'Change only the text size', and make 'Title Bars' 11 point font.

Click 'Apply', on the left hand side of the screen you will see 'Adjust ClearType Text', click that, make sure 'ClearType' is checked to 'on', then hit next and continue the process of selecting what looks the best and finish adjusting ClearType. Click 'OK' and exit the display settings.

Go to the desktop, hover your mouse somewhere on the desktop, hold 'Ctrl' and scroll your mouse wheel up and down until the icons are a good size for you.

Then open up your web browser (Edge/Chrome/Firefox, etc.) go to Settings, and make sure the zoom is at 125% for all pages. In Chrome you must go to the advanced settings and select 125%.

Restart your PC. It may take a day or so to get used to it, but it looks fine. Program UI's don't look funky anymore.
