Windows 10: Desktop seems to have response delays

Hello r/windows,

I am having two issues that I feel might be connected. Back in December my windows installation crashed out of the blue, and with the help of a friend I managed to navigate the intricacies of the installation process to reinstall a fresh copy of windows.

After a few months I started noticing two issues:

• 
  whenever I delete a file from the desktop it goes away, but when I log out and back into the profile again I can see the file, but when I click it windows says the file isn't there. If I refresh the desktop it disappears.
  
  
• 
  I have created custom menus on the task bar with useful shortcuts. The shortcuts are kept in the documents folder. Whenever I click on one it takes an inordinate amount of time to log the shortcuts, which it doesn't use to do. My laptop isn't slow, it's i7 with 32gb ram.
  

The reason I'm suspecting this is due to a common cause is because when my windows installation gave out, my friend and I narrowed it down to the ssd having bad sectors. But I thought formatting it would solve this issue.

Can anyone help me and put my mind at ease regarding my ssd's future?

How to bring back the original position of the desktop?

I suggest you to follow the steps provided below and check for status.

1. Right click on Desktop and select Display Settings.

2. In the right pane, under Orientation, select Landscape
from the drop down list.

I suggest you to run the Power troubleshooter by following the steps below:

• Type “Troubleshooting” in search box and press Enter.
• Click on “View all” on the top left pane.
• Select Power from the list and follow the prompts for troubleshooting.
