  1. Desktop shortcut to display Alphabetic menu for All Apps

I have seen several threads where people want to remove this feature but in my case it is actually easier to use than scrolling down through 10 to 20 pages of programs listed by letter to get to "X" for "Xcopy+" for example. Is there a way to make a desktop shortcut one-click to access the All-Apps alphabetic 'list-by-letter' menu? If I could, i would make that my default Display option when clicking All Apps in the Start Menu.

    :)

  2. Office 2013 apps work, but do not appear in Windows 10 start menu

I upgraded to Windows 10, and all apps work from desktop shortcuts. However, I cannot locate any Office 2013 apps in the start menu, either alphabetically, or by searching for the app name. Is there a solution that lets me find them in the start menu
and pin the apps to the start menu, as well?

  3. Shortcuts not working in Windows 10

If the issue is only having a working shortcut on your Desktop, then find the program in the alphabetical Apps list in Start menu, right click and you will see choices to Pin to Start or Pin to Taskbar. Now click More, then Open File Location. In the File
Explorer windows that opens to Start Menu shortcuts, the app should be highlighted so you can right click, select to Send To: Desktop (Create Shortcut).

When you click the start button if you then press a letter then usually all the apps beginning with that letter pop up for you to select. Try it!

Just occasionally you might need to type the second letter of the app to narrow down or reveal the choices.

  5. Once you have clicked start
    Then all Apps
    Then Scroll to 0-9
Click on 0-9 that will open up A-Z then just click what letter you need
Have tried right click to bring up send to but that does not work

    No. I don't think so.
You will have to click at the Start button first.

  7. You are probably right but whatever is activated when you click any letter under the All Apps list must do some specific function to bring up a display of only the alphabet. That alphabetic display, even if it was smaller in size would save a lot of time and would fit neatly in the same location as "most used" on the left or on the right side with the rest of the tiles.

Along the same lines, I have often wondered why Microsoft did not allow keyboard entry to select the letter. Such as typing the letter 'M' allowing you to skip ahead to the M options. As far as I can tell there is no keyboard interface function at all. No matter what you "type" it does nothing. Maybe this is something that can be done in AHK or similar?

Also : hTconeM9user> It is easier to click any letter o bring up the alphabetic display. It does not take clicking only the 0-9. No matter what letter you click, you still get the full alphabet (at least I do on my system)

    >>DavidHK you are Fast to reply! I had hoped this would be something already done. Since it appears to be an "open issue" I will post back the method (if there is one) as soon as I or others can get it to work.

    >> Also: My apologies 'hTconeM9user'. Not sure if I was clear on what I meant. But if i click any letter in the scroll down list whether 0-9 or A through Z they all do the same thing. My comment was only to note that whatever brings up the alphabet, it is done no matter which letter I click. Also no other actions such as right click etc do anything at all. I thought this might provide some insight into where to look for that elusive registry key that controls the pop-up alphabetic display.

  9. If I want Y then I just click it in the 0-9 and it goes straight there
Otherwise I still have to scroll down to find it

  12. So far, a friend gave me this to work with but i have not yet tested nor even confirmed it as applicable. He is usually close to the mark but he does not use Windows and told me this post was over a year old so it may not be in the right direction. I am just adding this in case someone else can use the information quicker than I can. https://all-programs-auto-expander.g...o-expander.au3

I looked at that link and rather than save it I opened it from the page and got this text:

Code: #NoTrayIcon Local $Ran While 1 Sleep(50) If WinActive("[CLASSDesktop shortcut to display Alphabetic menu for All Apps :DV2ControlHost]") Then If $Ran=0 Then ControlClick("[CLASSDesktop shortcut to display Alphabetic menu for All Apps :DV2ControlHost]", "", "[CLASS:Button; INSTANCE:1]") ControlFocus("[CLASSDesktop shortcut to display Alphabetic menu for All Apps :DV2ControlHost]", "", "[CLASSDesktop shortcut to display Alphabetic menu for All Apps :DirectUIHWND; INSTANCE:1]") $Ran=1 EndIf Else $Ran=0 EndIf WEnd[/quote] I would question the need for those yellow 'thingys' being there, may screw up the command.
