Windows 10: Desktop Speaker Icon Not Working

I just noticed another issue after the latest Windows creator update. The speaker icon on my taskbar no longer functions. It is there and I have sound. when I hover over it the percent of speakers is displayed but I can no longer change the level from there. My keyboard has a volume control so I can change the sound from there.

how do i get cortana to speak to me?

What model computer? Do you have speakers and microphone setup correctly? Desktops computers require external speakers and a microphone. A USB microphone with headphones for a desktop work with Cortana. Laptops have both those built in. On a desktop, you
have to enable the correct connected devices--right click on the volume icon and check Playback Devices.

 

no sound

I installed latest windows 10 up date on my desktop now have no sound speaker icon says no speakers plugged in.

 

Before the update when I clicked that icon it would give me a slide bar that would change the level. Also if you right clicked it there were other options that would come up. Now if you right click it you get nothing.

 

Try updating your sound drivers. Once that's done restart the system and see what happens.

 

I tried to update the sound driver but it says I have the latest one. The sound works just the icon doesn't.

 

Was fine yesterday but won't work today.
