Windows 10: Desktop Starts with "How do you want to open this file?"

    Desktop Starts with "How do you want to open this file?"


    Recently reinstalled Win10 on a new SSD to resolve a problem on the old SSD. Everything seemed to be going fine, several reboots no issues. Reinstalling software etc., then on one restart or cold boot, I get the desktop with this app notification asking how to open this file? Various choices, Notepad, IE, Paint, Win Media Player, Word, WordPad.I press the ESC key and it disappears. I don't have a file opening on Start, at least I'm not aware of one.Help appreciated resolving.

    windows 10 deleted my desktop files

    Step 1 - I upgraded to Win 10 and lost all my files on Desktop.

    Step 2 - Found the files in Network - USers- Desktop

    copied all files again to desktop.

    Step 3- Restarted my machine again and lost desktop files again.

    Step 4 - As suggested did the following as listed below but dont find my files.

    • Press “Windows + E”, open This PC/Computer
    • Open Local Disc C, open Windows.old
    • Click on Users, select your User name
    • Go to desktop folder
    Cant find my files. Why is Win 10 deleted files again and again from Desktop ?.

    opening .dds files with gimp

    Simply, HOW? I got the DDS plugin but the POS wont open DDS files still. Can someone give me a step-by-step rundown of how to install the DDS plugin for gimp so I know if I'm missing something?

    Please give steps to open the paths to Program Files

    If you want to open File Explorer to your C: drive without any registry tweaks, you'll need to do so from a shortcut you create.

    1. Open File Explorer to This PC.
    2. Right-click Winndows (CDesktop Starts with "How do you want to open this file?" :) and select Create Shortcut:

      Desktop Starts with "How do you want to open this file?" [​IMG]
    3. Clock OK in the altert dialog:

      Desktop Starts with "How do you want to open this file?" [​IMG]
    4. And you'll have a shortcut on your Desktop:

      Desktop Starts with "How do you want to open this file?" [​IMG]
