  1. desktop toolbar - recycle bin crash when more than 300(+-) files deleted

I've always used the desktop toolbar to use instead of desktop shortcuts and icons. Since 95, 98, XP, 8, 8.1, 10. All seem to have a problem when you have deleted a lot of files, Accessing the toolbar and moving the mouse over the recycle bin, the computer becomes stuck and some times recovers but today: Having Windows 10 Pro 64bit. I deleted 15 764 pictures ranging from file size 42mb to 500kb.

Then I wanted to delete them permanently and used the toolbar to access the recycle bin. and again my computer froze. the mouse was fine for a few seconds and other toolbar items were selectable for a few seconds and then every thing froze for a long time and I left my pc to sort it self out and came back a hour later and the computer was locked out, so I do not know if it restarted or what but I wish Microsoft will fix and make this recycle bin and file accessing from the tool bar more pc friendly.

I have to say that I could not find recycle bin in file explorer. so I had to make visible my desktop icons to access recycle bin. This worked fine.

accessing the recycle bin from desktop icon work luckily no matter how many files are deleted.

my question is to Microsoft: please make file accessing from tollbars more pc friendly!!!

    :)

    recycle bin

    Hi George,

To prevent your files from being deleted from the Recycle Bin, we suggest increasing the maximum file size your Recycle Bin can keep by following the steps below:

    • Right click on the Recycle Bin icon.
    • Under the Settings for selected location, select Custom size.
    • Fill up the box for your allotted maximum file size for your Recycle Bin.
Let us know if you need further assistance.

Missing desktop icons and recycle bin

No problems on the current Windows 10 on three computers I have running dual screens. Desktop Icons only appear on the primary screen.

All icons including the Recycle Bin not showing. The Recycle Bin could be the cause.

There was a bug / glitch during the Insider Preview builds that would flash up a message saying the Recycle Bin was corrupted or missing.

It seems that the Recycle Bin attempts to build a list of recycled files on all the drives on the computer. If the recycled files id is out of sync, that caused the bin to fail.

    Suggest:

Copy some files; then delete them; then reboot and see if the Recycle Bin appears.

    Recycle Bin was deleted

    Hi Raghav,

If we, by mistake, deleted the Recycle Bin icon on our desktop, we can still recover it.

Here are the steps to recover the Recycle Bin:

    • Go to Start.
    • Select Settings.
    • Choose Personalization > Themes > Desktop icon settings.
    • Check the box beside Recycle Bin, then press Apply.
    • Hit the OK button.

    Refer to the screenshot below:
