Windows 10: DESKTOP, WHY NOT CLOCK, CALENDAR, AND WEATHER?

During this Coronavirus pandemic, many people are really starting to use the home computer, smartphone, and Internet access for some serious business. I know we have been learning the PC for about 35 years now, but still having the same complaints. It's expensive, useless, a distraction, or an obsession; that pulls a family member away and actually makes him/her unproductive in society.


A problem with the Windows user interface screen [desktop] is that it is not a good office desktop. As you put items on a desk in an office, and get ready for work, the first and most noticeable things should be a rather large calendar and clock, so that you can keep appointments, have meetings and stay on a schedule.


The Microsoft Windows and Apple screens, do not let you know what day of the week it is, what time it is, and what you have coming up on your schedule. So, computer users, just like the inventors of these machines, have been hidden or buried in their work all alone and cut off from society. Some neglecting loved ones, bills to pay, community events. In that type of desktop you are not much aware of important things.


I have been trying to change my office screen [desktop] using a program called RainMeter, but it seems to be very incomplete and non-functioning at this point. There is something you can search for, called Widgets, or Gadgets. This should put a schedule and calendar right in front of your face, on the 'desktop', and a large clock. It would be helpful to have a weather application as well, maybe even a news radio for added benefit.


It's a shame that computer inventors and marketing departments didn't integrate something useful like this before. It seems like they don't listen to us, they build machines, write an O/S, but don't pay attention to their consumers. I hear more complaints that computers wrecked households, made a person seem cut off or obsessed and anti-social, cost too much, take too much work, expensive to repair and maintain, and even some say that the whole industry that aimed to put computers in the home was a scam. But now with our world changing around us; as many scientists warned that it might or certainly will, we are fortunate to have computers for home office work. If we try using this technology though it is not easy and not without drawbacks as I have mentioned.

Glad you got set up. That calendar is actually what I first suggested! A number of skins to choose from. It will also display the weather in a separate widget if you like.

Yes, I like the better on the desktop, too. I have 3 day weather, calendar and clock.

What happens when you try to change the Weather Settings?

I suggest you to go to Weather Settings and changes the Weather Settings from Fahrenheit to Celsius and check. If it doesn't change, I suggest you to follow the below troubleshooting and check:

  Open an Administrator CMD window. If you can’t find a way, use these steps:
  
• 
  Press CTRL+Shift+ESC to open Task Manager.
  
• 
  Click File > Run New Task
  
• 
  Make sure you have a check mark beside “Create this task with administrative privileges”
  
• 
  Type CMD Type the following commands at the CMD prompt:
  
  dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
