Windows 10: Desktop Windows File Explorer confusion

1st I want to set a default when I save a document from online or one that was sent to me to a specific drive. I have it set to the drive I want, yet it still wants to save to the OneDrive. The I realized the following different 'location' or 'folders' in File Explorer, all seemingly containing the document I have saved and use. AND these are all under Desktop! AND the desktop folders mentioned below do not contain all the items on my Desktop!My name - Personalcontains everything from AppData to Videos, with both a Desktop folder & a Documents folder, containing the files I have saved on m

File Explorer is confusing

Somewhat new to Windows, after having used a Mac for several years.

I find the layout in the File Explorer very confusing.

It shows Quick Access, I see two separate Desktop listings (contents not the same), OneDrive, This PC, Libraries, My User Name.

Why are there two Desktops? Is there a way to change the layout so it's not so confusing?

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Cannot find Desktop Icon in File Explorer

Now that is interesting. If I do what you suggest, File Explorer Address bar changes to C:\Users\username\documents and the missing ICONS are there. But there is still not a "Desktop" folder.

Is this a step in the right direction?
