  1. Desktop Windows Manager Uses High CPU then goes back down to under 1% after a few minutes.

I have a weird issue where the Desktop Windows Manager aka dwm.exe uses over 25% of my CPU and then jumps back down to less than 1% around 10 minutes later. I have tried using solutions that I could find online like changing my desktop background and turning off the screen saver. I scanned for viruses and updated drivers. It still keeps happening so I am not sure what is causing the problem or if this is normal. This hasn't happened before so I am guessing it isn't.

    :)

  2. Shutdown restarts and high CPU

I have two issues please that I would like some advice:

    Conditions for error:

When I leave my computer on idle for more than 2 hours plus, the computer

    1. Goes into 197% CPU usage
    2. When I shutdown, goes into restart and not shut down

What have I done to resolve this?

    1. This happens on two accounts
    2. Updated firmware to latest bios
    3. Run diagnostics; task manager, CPUID, perfmon, all with no issues reported
    4. Sent the device back to the supplier for them to run diagnostics
    5. Disabled high CPU applications (the biggest being qsynch)
    6. Reviewed online rports and changed restrty settings on HK Local
    7. Reviwed power management as suggested
    8. Run Malwarebytes, Bitdefender, and EDR Comodo
    9. Run qualys vulnerability scan
    10. Checked windows defender
    My setup:

    1. Intel NUC I7 10th generation bought from simply NUC
    2. 64 gb of RAM
    3. 1tb Samsung 970 NVME
    4. Windows 10 pro, with all latest updates
    5. High speed broadband

I would be grateful for some advice re what to do next to fix this issue.

    Regards,

    Mike

  3. Windows Explorer high CPU Usage in Windows 10

To further troubleshoot the issue, we suggest checking the Task Manager again to see what are the
applications that have high CPU usage. To do this, follow the same steps you did from the previous reply:

    • Click on the Start button and type Task Manager on the search box.
    • On the Task Manager window, you should see the programs running.
    • Click on the More details drop-down button to see the total number of apps running and their real-time CPU usage.

However, based on your response above, it seems that you may need to create a new user account again and just install your apps manually instead of copying them as your
previous user account might be corrupted.

Once your done with the steps, please let us know how it goes.

Windows 10 Display Blinking with High CPU

After upgrade to Windows 10, experiencing flashing display and high CPU.

    • At initial logon screen everything is normal - wall paper and logon screen display with no blinking
    • After logon, fan starts as CPU usage spikes, cursor is accompanied by the spinning blue circle
    • touchscreen does not respond to swipe to access Recovery/Safe mode for reboot
    • able to get to Task Manager and Perfmon to see high CPU usage and explorer.exe is suspended
looking for suggestions on how to either fix or roll back to Windows 8.1
