    Desktop Windows Manager using over 4GB of Memory!


    I am running a Surface Book 2 with 16gb memory. The system is equipped with a Intel 620 integrated graphics and a GTX 1060 for discrete graphics. Since I upgraded to Windows 11, dwm.exe is consistently using over 4gb of system memory. This is indefensible. I don't really want fancy drop shadows and rounded file manager corners that are impossible to scale. I have looked for ways to disable these features but it appears these are now baked into the OS. unfortunately, I am short on space on the 256gb SSD so I had to delete the previous installation. In other words, I am stuck on Windows 11 an

    Can I upgrade to 8GB (4gb * 2) Ram?

    In addition to Post #2, I'd suggest looking at Gigabyte's recommended memory list for the board. Unfortunately, they have only tested a few 4GB modules. Most of the correct type may work, especially if you're not looking to go above 1333 Hz.

    Windows shows 8GB RAM installed but 4GB RAM is usable

    Hi There,

    I've just upgraded my pc from 4GB RAM to 8GB RAM. Windows seems to have detected this upgrade but why does it show as only 4GB RAM available. The following is what I have tried so far with no luck:

    • I have tried the msconfig method on ensuring maximum memory is not checked.
    • physically removed the new RAM and reinstalled it
    Any thoughts/suggestions on how i can resolve this matter?
