I cannot -by example - delete a file until I refresh, nor rename a file, empty trash, etc. it is not a hardware issue. I can open programs and all ‘net activities are solid. Any ideas? I’ve had 2 techs on this and following their directions I’ve started up with nothing attached - running in battery, using the trackpad etc then adding back, one at a time, the mouse, external monitor, drives etc. No change. There is something rotten in software - a conflict. No malware- no virus. One more frustrating week and this 2 year old machine will make the acquaintance of a Louisville Slugger.

  3. TRIM for SSD drive

I have a new Dell desktop PC with WIN 10. It has a hard drive (DDespite changing out my SSD, trimming software, restoring Windows, my HP will not restart... :) and a SSD (CDespite changing out my SSD, trimming software, restoring Windows, my HP will not restart... :). In the past I have always defragged my hard drive but I understand that I should not optimize/defrag the SSD - that WIN 10 by default uses TRIM to optimize the SSD. I read
that TRIM is set as a default in WIN 10 and that it optimizes the SSD once a week. But when I look at the properties for the SSD drive, it shows that it has not been optimized for 14 days.

    1. How do I know that TRIM is working?

    2. If it isn't set as a default, how to I change that?

    Thanks.

    SSD TRIM on windows 7

A while ago we replaced the HDD with an SSD in my dads laptop.
I found out now that auto defragmenting was still on, we turned it off.

My dad just installed the Sandisk SSD software and it seems there isn't a manual TRIM function in it.
There was however an option to enable TRIM on windows 7, this option is checked now.

How do I know when it runs and can I schedule this?
    If so, how?
