Windows 10: Details of controlled folders alert

I've been getting alerts from controlled folder access about svchost.exe accessing one of my user folders. Unfortunately svchost.exe means it's a service, which doesn't tell much. Is there a way to determine which service triggered the alert?


I've tried looking into Windows logs, but didn't find anything related to this feature.

Odd Defender 'Controlled Folder Access' alert

Fall Creators Update 1709 introduced a new 'Controlled Folder Access' function in Defender. This is off by default, but I have turned it on to test it. I've had to allow a couple of apps access (VLC was one) but other than that it seem unobtrusive.

However, very occasionally (and with no apparent pattern, I've even seen it once visiting TenForums) I've seen a very strange alert for Internet Explorer....





I have two problems with this. First, I don't read Chinese (Japanese, or whatever).
Second, there appears to be no such folder as %desktopdirectory%





Anyone got any idea what this means?

 

Emergency Alerts

Hi Stephanie,

Just to confirm, is this the same thing that you tried on your phone, in order to turn off Amber Alerts?

• Open Settings.
• Tap on System.
• Tap on Messaging.
• Tap on the Change emergency alert settings link.
• Turn on or off the emergency alerts you want.

Let us know if this was the same thing that you tried.

We would also suggest to reset your phone after doing these steps to ensure that the changes on your phone's settings will be refreshed.

Simply press and hold the Power and Volume down button for 15 seconds and then release your hold afterwards.

 

'Choose details' of folder settings

Is there an alternative way of modifying the order of the 'Choose Details' of a folder selection list?

What would be great is if you could drag something from the end of the list such as the 'Type' option to the top of the list instead of having to continually click on the 'Move Up' button. Or alternatively select an option from the end of the list and press
a 'Move to top' button. If either is not possible can you suggest alternative app that will give me more control of this particular part of windows even if it is part of an bigger app. see pic below...
