Windows 10: Developer package unable to install.

Developer package failed to install and all the option tools, but I have enough internet.

What can I do??

Windows 10: Developer Mode package failed to install. Error code 0x80004005

Attempting to activate developer mode so I can access the Linux Subsystem feature. Upon switching to developer mode, I receive the error in the title and am subsequently unable to locate the package in the 'optional features' list where it is supposedly located. The only other suggestions I've seen online involve registry manipulation, which I view as a last resort--is there no other alternative way to access this package?

 

Problem installing Developer Mode Package

I have been trying to install Developer Mode Package (to get debugging etc. features in Visual Studio 2017). The screen displays "Searching for Developer Mode package" then "Installing Developer Mode Package" and then the following error: "Developer Mode
is turned on. However remote deployment and Windows Device Portal could not be installed so they're not available. Error code 0x80072f8f"

I have searched for solutions and found references to date and time problems, but my date and time appear correct, albeit with UK and not US time. I also found a reference (on the web, not in the Microsoft forums) to Eset SSL settings producing this error,
and I use Eset as my anti-virus software. But my Eset Advanced Settings differed to the one in the reference and I was unable to get a result. So I don't know what to try next. I would appreciate some help, please!

Windows often reads and updates the information in the registry. Normally, software programs make registry changes automatically. You should not make unnecessary changes to the registry. Changing registry files incorrectly can cause Windows to stop working
or make Windows report the wrong information.

back up the registry before making any changes.
