Windows 10: Device Connect/Disconnect Sound at Random Solution (Win 10)

I had been hearing (at random) the musical notes that usually hear when connecting a device to a USB port. This often happened while playing games. I read the Microsoft answers but did not see a solution that quite fit my situation. I did not want to merely turn off the sound as so many suggested. What I finally realized was that when I heard this sound I would also lose my mouse function for maybe a second or two. I replaced the mouse with a spare one and have not had the problem since. Guess all the gaming wore out my mouse or one of its components (wire, plug, light).

Device Connect/Disconnect Sounds Happens Sporadically


Win 10 v1709 64-bit. From time to time the PC speakers will emit one or more device connect and/or disconnect sounds. Sometimes it will also do this when I plug an iPhone charger into an electrical outlet in the same room but separate from the one the PC is plugged into. This just started happening in the last few weeks.

No relevant events are logged in the event log. The device manager does not show any devices with issues. There are no notifications.

I see no impact of any of this other than the sounds which make me wonder what is going on.

Any suggestions about how to find out what is going on?

If the connect/disconnect sounds is only happening when playing an specific game, It might be a game app or a driver issue. we suggest that you try to uninstall and reinstall the game and check if the problem persists. Check the steps provided below:
