Windows 10: Device Descriptor Request Failed for 2 in 1 keyboard case Galaxy Book 12

For the last few weeks, the keyboard case EJ-CW720 for my Samsung Galaxy Book 12 SM-W727VZKBVZW windows tablet is only intermittently working. Most of the time, an error message appears that says the USB device has malfunctioned and is not recognized see attached screenshot. In Device Manager under USB Controllers, the keyboard case appears as Unknown USB Device Device Descriptor Request Failed. I have tried restarting my tablet, unattaching and reattaching the case, cleaning the connection on the tablet and the case with 91% alcohol on a q-tip, tried to update the drivers for the keyboard within Device managers, troubleshooting the device via Windows. Nothing has permanently fixed the problem. The only way I can get it to work is by disconnecting the keyboard, restarting my tablet, and connecting it perfectly perpendicularly with the case. This method works about a fourth of the time.


There's nothing obviously wrong with the hardware, and this seemed to happen all the sudden, which makes me suspect a possible software bug. I posted a query on a Samsung forum but haven't had any luck so far.


Any ideas what might be causing the problem?

Maybe it's time to step back from the current efforts, and start over. I suggest you read over this excellent tutorial and try all of its steps: [Solved] Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed) for Windows 10 - Driver Easy. The one that may provide you with some easy relief is the one where you uninstall the device whose descriptor is failing, reboot, and see what happens when device enumeration recurs during boot-up. If you're lucky, it will fix itself.

my bios is and custom unlocked bios (latest version) (thanks to Bios Mods -The Best BIOS Update and Modification Source ) because of lenovo hardware whitlist maybe thats causing the problem???

Let's troubleshoot the issue by performing the steps below:

Method 1:

1.Tap on Start, search for Device Manager and tap on it.

2. In the Device Manager window, locate the
Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed) and double-tap on it.

3. Go to Power Management. Uncheck the box for Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

Method 2:

1. Tap on Start, search for Power Options and selectChoose what the power buttons do in the left pane.

2. Under theShutdown settings, uncheck the box for
Turn on fast startup (recommended).

If the issue still occurs, try performing a rollback:

1. Tap on Start, search for Device Manager and tap on it.
   
2. In the Device Manager window, locate the Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed) and double-tap on it.
   
3. Tap on Properties.
4. Choose Driver tab.
5. Click Roll back driver.
6. Restart your computer.

Note: The Roll Back Driver button is only available if a previous version of the driver was installed. If the current driver for the device is the only one that was ever installed on this computer, then the Roll Back
Driver button is not enabled.
