Windows 10: Device "Disconnect" action fails on a paired Bluetooth speaker

There is an error in the bluetooth connection management or setings.


When you "Disconnect" from a bluetooth audio device, for some reason, Windows will re-connect to it over time, randomly. It causes critical failures - as the speaker starts playing loud music suddenly, ruining work environment, waking up housemates, and scaring people. It also steals audio connection from other devices connected to a speaker, thus ruining ongoing performance or audio played, if any.


Bluetooth audio speakers are paired once to a Windows laptop, and you use a "Connect" feature to start listening to audio through speaker. Windows confirms it with a "Connected voice, music" message. You also use "Disconnect" to stop using bluetooth audio device. Once disconnected, the audio is played over default device - internal speakers/headphones; the speaker also may be used by other laptops/phones.


System should respect the "Disconnect" action performed on device.

System should not auto connect to a disconnected device.

System should not auto connect to a device if it was specificaly disconnected manually.

"Disconnect" action should be fixed.


It has critical consequences. Sooner or later a family will file a case against Microsoft, on a heart attack and death caused by sudden auto connecting to a loudspeaker at night. Imagine the stocks damage and media response, caused by company'sfailure to act on numerous reports previous thread on this issue has over 4,000 requests.


How this error could be reported and fixed before a disaster strikes?

Paired bluetooth audio speaker not in action center

I have windows 10 and I paired it with a bluetooth speaker. When I paired the BT speaker, windows 10 automatically connects to it and the speaker works fine.

I have a problem when I disconnect my BT speaker and then tries to reconnect again. The problem is I can't find my paired bluetooth speaker in "connect" window of the action center. In order for me to connect to my BT speaker again, I would have to unpair
it and then pair it again.

My bluetooth drivers are updated.

I suggest you to follow the steps provided below and check if it helps.

• Pair the Bluetooth device to the system.
• Right click on the Speaker icon in the System tray and select
  Playback Devices.
• Select the device and click on the drop down list next to Set default button.
• Select the option to connect and disconnect from the device.
